Troubleshooting
- My GPSMAP
H1 does not respond. How do I reset the device?

Press and hold
the (POWER) button for >30 seconds and then release.
- Allow the
GPSMAP H1 to cool if hot to the touch.
- How do I reset all settings back to factory defaults?

'Settings > System > Reset > Reset All Settings'.
- How do I perform a Hard Reset of my GPSMAP H1?

Power the GPSMAP H1 off.

Press and hold the (PAGE) and (ENTER) buttons
simultaneously.

Press and release the (POWER) button.
-
The GPSMAP H1 will begin the boot process.
- Release the (PAGE) and (ENTER) buttons when
prompted to remove all user data.
- Select 'Reset' and press (ENTER).
- How do I perform a Master Reset of my GPSMAP H1?

Power the GPSMAP H1 off.

Press and hold the (–), (MENU) and (QUIT) buttons
simultaneously.

Press and release the (POWER) button.
-
The GPSMAP H1 will begin the boot process.
- Release the (–), (MENU) and (QUIT) buttons.
- "Restoring all activities and settings to
defaults" will be displayed.
- How do I enable Forced Mass Storage Mode?

Power the GPSMAP H1 off.

Connect the USB data cable.
-
Press and release the (POWER) button to
start the boot process.

Press and hold the (UP) button.
-
Wait for "USB MS Mode" to be displayed on the screen.

Release the (UP) button.
-
The GPSMAP
H1 is now in Forced Mass Storage Mode.
- My GPSMAP H1 is not acquiring satellite signals.

Power your GPSMAP H1 On.

Place the GPSr outside, in clear view of the sky, away from any obstructions, for several minutes.

If no improvement >30 minutes,
from the Satellite page, select
'Menu > Satellite Setup > Satellite > Demo Mode' then 'Satellite > Auto
Select'.

- My GPSMAP H1 will not charge.

Ensure the USB-C cable is inserted fully.

Reduce backlight brightness.

Ensure ambient temperature is between 5ºF and 140ºF (-15ºC -
60ºC).
- My GPSMAP H1 battery gauge is not accurate.
-
Leave the device powered on until the battery is completely discharged.
-
Charge the battery fully without interruption.
- The battery does not last very long.
- How can I be sure my GPSMAP H1 is in MTP Mode?
- My GPSMAP H1 is not reading data from the
microSD card.

Confirm the microSD card meets supported
specifications.

Verify the microSD card is installed securely and correctly.

Ensure microSD card is properly formatted.

Try using a different microSD card.
- While trying to load GCLive data, my GPSMAP H1 perpetually displays a spinning wheel on the screen and no data is
loaded.
- Verify your GPSMAP H1 has a functional internet
connection via either
Bluetooth or
Wi-Fi.
- Check
'Settings > Geocaching > Geocaching Live' to verify the unit is registered
with a valid groundspeak account.
- Select
'Settings > Geocaching > Geocaching Live > Unregister' to unregister the
device.
- Select
'Settings > Geocaching > Register Device' and complete registration with
desired groundspeak account.
- I'm having trouble pairing my GPSr with my
smart phone via Garmin Connect or Explore.
- My GPSMAP H1 keeps shutting down before
finishing the boot sequence.

- Power On Test Page:

Start with the GPSMAP H1 powered off.

Press and release the (POWER) button.

Immediately Press and hold the (ENTER) button.

The GPSMAP H1 will boot into a test menu.

Release the (ENTER) button.

Choose desired
test from available options.
