1. What is an Adventure?

- Each Adventure is assigned categorized details to assist users with
sorting and identifying those which may appeal to them:
- Type: Primary physical activity or theme for the Adventure
- Bicycling
- Cross Country Skiing
- Dirt Biking
- Geocaching

- Motorcycling
- Mountain Biking
- Mountaineering

2. Find an Adventure
- BaseCamp
- Garmin removed all online components and discontinued support for Adventures in
May of 2018.
- Existing Adventures in your BaseCamp database can still be viewed
and used with any compatible GPSr.
- Please consider
sharing your existing Garmin Adventure Database.
- From the Find toolbar, select Garmin Adventures in the Find field
and choose All Adventures or Featured Adventures.
- Select the desired option for near:
- Choose Center of view to find Adventures near the center of the map
display.
- Choose Center of selected items to find Adventures near the centroid
of the items you have selected.
- Enter a city name to find Adventures near that city.
- Enter a key word in the containing field (optional).
- Select
.
- Select an Adventure from the results list.
- Select Download.

3. View Adventure Details
- BaseCamp
- Double-click desired Adventure to open.
- Select an option to browse through the adventure.
- Select any photo or video to view it.
- Select
to view an animated overview of the track on the map.
- Select
to toggle the name and description of the photo or video that
currently appears.
- Select
to view the properties of the photo or video.
- Select Graph to view the elevation and/or speed plot for the adventure
track.

- Garmin pushbutton GPSr:
- Open the 'Adventures' page on the GPSr.
- Select the desired Adventure.
- View Adventure summary and content.
- Garmin touchscreen GPSr:
- Open the 'Adventures' page on the GPSr.
- Select the desired Adventure.
- View Adventure summary and content.
4. Create Your Own Adventure
- Garmin Adventures are created using
Garmin BaseCamp software.
- All desired data necessary for creating your Adventure must first be
imported into the BaseCamp database.
- Each Adventure is compiled around a single, primary track.
- Once selected, the primary track can not be changed or deleted,
however supplemental tracks may be added.
- Watch this 'Creating Adventures' video overview.
- Primary Track
- Select File > New > Garmin Adventure.
- Select a track on which to base the Adventure, and select Next.
- Add tracks,
waypoints,
photos,
geocaches,
videos
and
annotations to
the Adventure.
- Select Next.
- Complete the required fields to name and describe the Adventure.
- If you want to change the cover photo for the Adventure, select
Change, and choose the desired photo.
- Select Finish.
- Add Tracks
- Drag and Drop any track(s) to the desired Adventure, or:
- Option 2
- Right-click a track.
- Choose Send To...
- Choose the target Adventure.
- Select OK.
- Option 3
- Select a track.
- Select Edit on the toolbar
- Choose Send To...
- Choose the target Adventure.
- Select OK.
- Add Waypoints
- Drag and Drop any waypoint(s) to the desired Adventure, or:
- Option 2
- Right-click a waypoint.
- Choose Send To...
- Choose the target Adventure.
- Select OK.
- Option 3
- Select a waypoint.
- Select Edit on the toolbar
- Choose Send To...
- Select OK.
- Add Photos
- Drag and Drop any photo(s) to the desired Adventure, or:
- Option 2
- Double-click an Adventure.
- Select Edit.
- Select
to add photos.
- Browse to the folder on your computer where your photos are stored,
select a photo, and select Open.
- If necessary, select a location for the photo. (Geo-tagged photos
will be automatically placed at the proper location.)
- Repeat
steps 3–5 to add additional photos as desired.
- Select
in the
lower left
area of the map to edit other aspects of the Adventure or to finish
editing the Adventure.
- When you are finished editing the Adventure, select Close.
- Add Geocaches
- Drag and Drop any geocache(s) to the desired Adventure, or:
- Option 2
- Right-click a geocache.
- Choose Send To...
- Choose the target Adventure.
- Select OK.
- Option 3
- Select a geocache.
- Select Edit on the toolbar
- Choose Send To...
- Choose the target Adventure.
- Select OK.
- Add Videos
- Double-click an Adventure.
- Select Edit.
- Select
to add videos.
- Select a location on the map to place the video, and enter the
YouTube URL of the video.
- BaseCamp automatically loads the name and
description from the URL, but you can change the information if desired.
- Select Save.
- Repeat
steps 3–6 to add additional videos as desired.
- Select
in the
lower left
area of the map to edit other aspects of the Adventure or to finish
editing the Adventure.
- When you are finished editing the Adventure, select Close.
- Add Annotations
- Double-click an Adventure.
- Select Edit.
- Select
to add annotations.
- Select a location on the map to place the annotation.
- Enter the annotation, change the name if desired, and select Save.
- Repeat steps 3–5 to add additional annotations as desired.
- Select
in the
lower left
area of the map to edit other aspects of the Adventure or to finish
editing the Adventure.
- When you are finished editing the Adventure, select Close.
5. Edit an Adventure
- Double-click desired Adventure to open it.
- Select Edit.
- Add
tracks,
waypoints,
photos,
geocaches,
videos and
annotations
to the Adventure.
- Right-click and select Delete
to remove tracks, waypoints, photos, geocaches, videos or
annotations a desired.
- Select Next.
- Change any of the fields to name and describe the Adventure as
desired.
- If you want to change the cover photo for the Adventure, select
Change, and choose the desired photo.
- Select Finish.
6. Delete an Adventure
- Deleting an Adventure from BaseCamp also removes all unique
content (tracks, waypoints, photos, etc.) from the BaseCamp Library.
- Deleting an Adventure from a connected device
also removes all
unique content (tracks, waypoints, photos, etc.) from the device.
- Option 1
- Locate the Adventure you wish to delete in Garmin Adventures or
Devices.
- Select the Adventure(s) you want to delete.
- Right-click and select Delete.
- Option 2
- Locate the Adventure you wish to delete in Garmin Adventures or
Devices.
- Select the Adventure(s) you want to delete.
- Click Edit > Delete.
7. Send Adventure to GPSr
- Drag and Drop desired Adventure(s) to the connected device, or:
- Option 2
- Right-click an Adventure.
- Choose Send To...
- Choose the target device.
- Select OK.
- Option 3
- Select an Adventure.
- Select Edit on the toolbar
- Choose Send To...
- Choose the target device.
- Select OK.
- Option 4
- Select an Adventure.
- Select Device on the toolbar
- Choose Send to Device...
- Choose the target device.
- Select OK.
8. Share Your Adventures
- BaseCamp
- Option 1
- Double-click an adventure.
- Select the desired social network icon to share the adventure, or
select
to share via email.
- If necessary, enter your username and password for the selected
service.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Option 2
- Double-click an adventure.
- Double-click the Adventure Title to open the selected Adventure in
the default browser.
- Copy the Adventure web address in the browser address bar and paste
into an email (etc) for sharing.
- GPSrChive
