Troubleshooting
- The Rino
700 is not responding. How do I reset the device?

Allow the Rino
700 to cool if hot to the touch.
-
Press and hold [Power]
> 30 seconds.
-
Cycle [Power]
to reboot device if necessary.

+ cycle [Power] (erases all user data).
- My Rino 700 is not acquiring satellite signals

Power your Rino 700 On.

Configure Setup > System > Satellite > Satellite
System = GPS.

Place the GPSr outside, in clear view of the sky, away from any obstructions, for several minutes.

If no improvement >30 minutes,
from the Satellite page, select
Menu > Use With GPS Off > Use With GPS On > AutoLocate Position.

If no improvement >30 minutes, perform Master Reset (above) and repeat.
- My Rino 700 will not charge

Ensure the USB cable is not connected to an
unpowered USB hub.

Reduce backlight brightness.

Enable Power Save Mode (press and hold
[Power] button while charging)

Ensure temperature is between 32ºF and 122ºF (0ºC - 50ºC).
- My Rino 700 battery gauge is not accurate

Leave the device powered on until the battery is completely discharged.

Charge the battery fully without interruption.
- The battery does not last very long

- My Rino 700 is connected to a computer, but will not enter Mass Storage Mode
- I do not see any new removable drives in my list of drives

Windows may be having trouble assigning a drive letter.

Select My Computer > Manage > Disk Management to assign drive letters.

Make sure you have the latest Garmin drivers installed.

Enter Forced Mass Storage Mode.
-
When prompted by the Found New Hardware Wizard, select "No not at this time" followed by "Install USB drivers automatically".

Once the driver installation is complete, select "Finish".
-
The computer should now recognize the
Rino 700 as an external storage drive.
- My PC frequently displays "USB Device not recognized" when I connect my GPSr.
- My Rino 700 will not communicate with older
Rino 1x0 and 5x0 models.

Verify your Rino 700 Squelch Tone mode is not set
to DSC (Digital Coded Squelch).
-
Previous generation Rino 1x0 and 5x0 models do not
support DSC.

Configure your Rino 700 Squelch Tone mode to CTCSS
(Continuous Tone Controlled Squelch System).
-
Your Rino 700 should now be able to communicate
with the older Rino models.
