Backup

• We recommended making a complete backup of the eTrex Touch 2 before doing anything else with it.
• It is not difficult to accidentally delete and/or overwrite important system files and/or user data on the device.
• Creating a 'Factory Default' archival copy of the eTrex Touch 2 now may help prevent unwanted anxiety in the future.
• Tip: Make frequent archival copies to allow for future restoration to a recent configuration should it become necessary.

Create Archive

Connect the eTrex Touch 2 to your computer via USB cable. If the eTrex Touch 2 prompts "Use MTP (media transfer)?", select 'Yes'. Wait for the eTrex Touch 2 to enter MTP Mode. Create a new folder on your desktop named 'eTrex Touch 2 Archive' (or something similar). Open the file explorer window and position it so both windows are visible. Find the eTrex Touch 2 icon/folder (blue triangle) and open it. Open the 'Internal Storage' icon/folder. Click and drag the 'GARMIN' folder to the 'eTrex Touch 2 Archive' folder and release the mouse button. Wait for the copy process to finish completely. Disconnect the eTrex Touch 2 from your computer. Rename the copied 'GARMIN' folder to include a date suffix (example: 'GARMIN - 27DEC22' or 'GARMIN - 221227' etc). Save the 'eTrex Touch 2 Archive' folder in a safe location, such as an external USB flash drive.
