How To... Use TracBack on Legacy Outdoor Handhelds

 GPS 72, 72H, and 76 Handhelds

  1. Starting a Track Log

The Track Log feature must be activated to record your path of movement. To activate the Track Log feature:

    1. Press MENU twice to open the main menu.
    2. Select Tracks.
    3. Press MENU.
    4. Select Setup Track Log.
    5. Select Record.
    6. Select Wrap When Full or Stop When Full.

  2. Resetting Track and Trip Data

It is best to reset the track and trip data at your starting point so your device knows the path you should follow back with TracBack. This also helps eliminate straight lines from your last known location to your current location (ie. from your home to the current trailhead).

    1. Press MENU twice to open the main menu.
    2. Select Tracks.
    3. Select Clear.
    4. Select Yes to delete the track log data.

  3. Saving the Current Track Log

    1. Press MENU twice to open the main menu.
    2. Select Tracks.
    3. Select Save.
    4. Select the portion of the track log to save from the list, or select Entire Log.
    5. Select OK.

    • The track is now saved and appears in the Saved Tracks list.

  4. Performing a TracBack

    1. Press the MENU key twice to open the main menu.
    2. Select Tracks.
    3. Select a saved track.
    4. Select TracBack.
    5. Select Reverse to track back to the starting point or Original to retrace the saved track.

    • Once TracBack has been activated, the device will use the track points in the saved track to automatically create a route and guide you to your destination.
    • To exit a TracBack route, press the MENU key and select Stop Navigation.
