With unprecedented connectivity features never before
available in it's class, the Oregon 7x0 series
will have wireless integration with Geocaching.com for Geocaching Live. Users
will be able to wirelessly download cache descriptions, logs and hints, even if
they’re out in the field. Once a geocache is logged as found, it will be
automatically uploaded to the user’s Geocaching.com profile. Premium
Geocaching.com members will also be able to sync their geocaching lists directly
to their device. Users can even use the LiveTrack feature to broadcast their
location to family and friends and let them know they’ll be the first to find a
new geocache.
All of the new Oregon 7x0 handhelds include the new Active Weather feature for
real-time forecast information with live weather radar so users can always be
aware of both inclement weather and perfect conditions for their outdoor
adventures. In addition to Active Weather and Geocaching Live, the Oregon 7x0
series have a variety of new connected features. These are the first GPS
handhelds to be compatible with the Garmin Connect IQ platform, which was
previously only available for Garmin wearables. With Connect IQ, Oregon 7x0
series users can customize their device with more data fields, widgets and apps
to fit their individual lifestyles. Users can also pair their handhelds with
their compatible smartphone for call, text and email notifications right on the
device, as well as wireless software downloads and automatic data uploads to the Garmin Connect online community.
Whether you visit the same place often, frequently switch between maps, or need to continually change settings and/or access common shortcuts, the Oregon
7x0 fully customizable home screen has room to place up to 16 items per page from the [Where To?] [Setup] and [Shortcuts] menus.
Don’t like the way something is set up? No worries. With a tap of a button, you can configure your applications easily and quickly with adaptable controls. Have to mount on the right handle bar? No problem. Oregon
7x0 can accommodate left or right-handed setups based on the screen orientation.
The Garmin Oregon 7x0 series includes Activity types
made available on previous units to help customize the way routes are calculated
based on what you’re doing. These Activities include: Tour Cycling, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Mountaineering and ATV/Off Road Driving. Garmin also
included a new route calculation method, “Minimize Ascent,” because going somewhere on your own horsepower is a different situation than letting a vehicle do the work for you.
