Check Firmware Version |
- Power on the GPSMAP
H1.
- Open 'Settings > System > About'.
- The device Software Version, Unit ID,
IMEI, Host, GPS, OM+ DB, Wireless, Display, Camera and CIQ versions are displayed:

- If the 'Software Version' and 'Host
Software Version' values do not match each other, contact
Garmin Support.

Firmware Installation |

|
Firmware updates, map updates, Connect IQ
applications and other optional software improvements for your Garmin
GPSMAP H1 are managed
with the Garmin Express application. Links to versions for both PC and Mac can be found in
Software.
- Connect your Garmin
GPSMAP H1 via USB and enter
MTP Mode
- Start the Garmin Express application and choose your device from the menu
- Select desired updates and follow the prompts to complete installation

Device updates for your GPSMAP H1 can also be performed using the
Garmin Explore app.
- Power on the GPSMAP H1
- Open the Explore app on your mobile device
- Verify the GPSMAP H1 and the Explore app are connected
- Open the 'Devices' tab in the Explore app
- Select your device from the menu
- Select 'Software Update'
- Follow any prompts as directed to install available updates

When connected to the internet via an active
Wi-Fi connection, the GPSMAP H1 will periodically check for
device firmware updates and download them seamlessly in the background
when available. Once the download has completed, the GPSMAP H1 will
prompt the user to install the firmware update at the next power-on event.

|
|
NOTE: Loading older firmware versions will clear all user data from the device (remove micro SD card if present).
- Download and extract the desired *.GSP firmware update.
- Rename *.GSP to
GUPDATE.GSP.
- Connect the GPSMAP H1 to your computer and enter
MTP Mode.
- Copy GUPDATE.GSP to [GPSr]\Internal Storage\Garmin\GUPDATE.GSP.
- If loading an older firmware version, create a
force.tmp
file in the [GPSr]\Internal Storage\Garmin\
directory.
- Disconnect and reboot the GPSMAP H1.
- When prompted to install the new firmware version, select 'Yes'.
- The GPSMAP H1 will restart automatically after the firmware update is complete.
