Re: GPSMAP 66 Firmware 7.60
Right, I'll bite with this one.
v7.60 bricks my GPSMap 66s. Thank goodness for this website, or I'd be snookered. It installed last night and the GPS wouldn't get past the screen where it says GPSMap66s in the bottom of the screen.
I left it a full hour this morning to see if it would go any further, as I have another bug where 9,000 caches and 1,500 waypoints and a new map can take a very long time to start up (think 30 minutes to an hour). But it wasn't the same issue.
Forcing it into Mass Storage mode worked, and I deleted maps, waypoints and geocache files. None of it worked.
Thanks to the guide here I did a forced RGN install of v7.20 and it starts up again perfectly.
Although I did manage to lose my profiles somewhere in the muddle, I'm glad to have it back again. So I sure won't be risking a software update until a new version comes out!

Re: GPSMAP 66 Firmware 7.60
When updating from 7.20 to 7.60 all went very quick.
Garmin Express version 7.7.0.0
As there are only 150 Geocaches on the 66 at any one time. Plus any maps and GPX files are on the SD card not on the 66 memory.
Have never run into any problems when it comes to software updates.
Only use approved Garmin cables and only use the STD USB port not the high speed USB port to do all my updates.
The 66 boots up in less than 1 min every time.
I do use high end SD cards and the Map is over 4GB.

I also updated from 7.20 to 7.60 yesterday with Garmin Express 7.7.0 without any problems so far.
I have no Geocaches on my device but plenty of waypoints , Custom POIs and GPX tracks. The TopoActive Europe SW map is on the device and an assortment of IMG maps (all <4Gb) on the mSD card (also high end) - my device also boots up quickly in around 30 seconds.

I can confirm that the keyboard layout now defaults to the selected system language

Re: GPSMAP 66 Firmware 7.60
I can also confirm this. But i would like to request Garmin (if you read this) to please change the settings to be as up to including firmware 6.00 where unit language and keyboard language were saved independently.
The reason for this is easy to explain, some examples.
An English speaking Canadian is in a French speaking area: unit language is English, keyboard language French.
An English speaking person is in a Hispanic area: unit language is English, keyboard language Spanish.
A German speaking person is in France: unit language is German, keyboard language French.
A Polish speaking person is in Germany: unit language is Polish, keyboard language German.
A person from a generation where computers were English only: unit language is English, keyboard language is any other.
etc. etc.
