GPSMAP 66S won't power on without connect usb cable

The device won't power on without the usb cable being connected to a power source. When connected, I can do anything/everything, as soon as I disconnect the power usb cable, pressing power button on top right will not turn the device on. Help!

Sounds like a dead battery?

Does the unit shut off instantly when the USB cable is disconnected?
