IMG Maps no longer displayed (v12.08)

After updating to software version 12.08 my maps, loaded as .img-files into the /Garmin directory, are not longer displayed.
They are listed in the selection / layer menu, but when I activate them, they are not displayed - map is "empty".
I tested various Garmin maps I use for > 10 years from various sources. In the menu only the name is displayed, but no thumbnail image for the map.

Also tested: Deleted from device, restart. Load map, restart. Nothing helped.
Does anybody else encountered this issue?

This has been the case for me since I got the device at launch. Most (all?) 3rd party maps don’t have a thumbnail shown in the map layers menu on my unit.

I can't confirm this. Or in other words. My installed Maps (CHE+ from freizeitkarte-osm.de) still works properly, just used today on a hike from Aarburg-Oftringen to Reiden.

Maybe they also had no thumbnail on my device before (SW version 11.x), but I did not realized it (as my maps worked)

I confirm, that the various maps worked on my device till SW-Version 11.x (I do not know from which version I updated to 12.8), but now they are not displayed, but I've to prepare my larger hiking trips

The maps I have on an SD card are still shown in map layers menu with version 12.08. Do the maps show up under Map Manager on your device?

Strange then. Does it matter what Map Type you have selected? I.e. Base Map or Topo Active?

The "built-in" maps / Garmin-Maps work.
Only maps I load(ed) do not work. I tried almos all combination: with/without other maps activated, etc.
And again: They worked till some days before and before the last update.

Thanks keenonkites, currently it works again with your help.
What I did:
1. installed a map from freizeitkarte-osm.de
--> works
2. But now also the before not working map works (when switching it on),
3.Removed the map from freizeitkarte-osm.de, and installed other maps again that did not worked.
4. --> all Maps work as expected, even they have not a thumbnail image in the selection (I do not need/expect this),

I do not know what caused the strange behavior. It seems, something screwd up only on my device.
