Fixed swipe handling on Satellite app
Maybe @JungleJim can test to see if this has now been corrected to work without being annoying as hell and vastly different as in the past where there was zero swiping "motion". The different constellations were previously brought into view instantaneously.
This has been fixed on the H1. Still a delay before the GPS signal bars are displayed when using the Satellite glance in a 3x1 field. The glance displays “Waiting for signal” before the bars are shown.

Only the alerts—that's something different.

Final turn warning
I don't believe these have ever been present on the H1. I have taken this up directly with Garmin support and they have been looking into this issue since January. As of yet it has not been sorted!

My H1i Plus will no longer save an activity. I have the 'recorded data reset' option set to prompted and when I go to save the activity it goes straight to the data reset page. Needless to say that the 'save portion' doesn't work either. I have tried resetting all settings back to factory defaults and also a hard reset, but the problem persists. Has anybody else encountered this problem?

Hello everyone,

I posted the message you can read below (under the ****** marker and the subject "Feature request: prompt before firmware download/install in Explore") to the Garmin forum dedicated to Explore for iOS. Unfortunately, I haven't received any response from a Garmin representative—come on, at least the usual “yes, thank you, very kind of you, we will consider your proposal for a future version of the software..." :)

Now, besides the fact that I'd love to hear your thoughts about it, I noticed the following line in the changelog for version 12.06:

Added option to block Explore Sync (Settings -> System -> Sync with Explore App)

Version 12.06 hasn't been offered to me yet, so I can't test the feature. However, I don't think it solves the issue I raised in my Garmin forum post.

It's true that by blocking sync, I can open Explore near the device (a GPSMAP H1) without fear of experiencing a download-and-transfer process that takes ages, but this way, I can't even perform the normal syncing of activities, collections, and so on. What would be needed, instead, would be to be able to perform the normal syncing while safely rejecting or aborting a firmware download/transfer via BLE.

******

Feature request: prompt before firmware download/install in Explore

I would greatly appreciate it if Garmin could add a simple feature to the Explore app. Specifically, I would like the app to prompt me before downloading and installing a software update on my GPSMAP device. If I choose to cancel the operation, the app should do so.

Updating the software via Bluetooth with Explore honestly takes too long. I prefer to do it via USB with Garmin Express on my computer before syncing activities, collection and other data between Explore and the device. However, I might want to sync even when I don’t have a computer at hand, such as during a hike. If a new firmware version is released in the meantime (perhaps half an hour earlier), Explore will start downloading and transferring it to the device without prompting.

At the moment, the only way to interrupt the transfer (the most time-consuming phase of the entire operation) is to abruptly close Explore or disable Bluetooth. This would arguably be the third-best solution (after a preliminary prompt, as suggested above, and a Cancel button to safely abort an ongoing transfer) if I were confident that the system handles this incomplete state correctly. For instance, if I return home and switch to Express to update, will Express detect and delete the incompletely transferred file, and start the operation anew? Or will I encounter misleading error messages and strange behavior that prevent me from completing the update and force me to perform a master reset?

Is there any guidance for the weather overlay in the layers menu? I selected temperature and the map turned red, which I guess is fair because it's REALLY HOT but if I click on the map it doesn't give any info on the point.

Edit: Never mind, I just had to zoom WAY out and some associated numbers popped up with each map selection. Neat.

Added option to block Explore Sync (Settings -> System -> Sync with Explore App)

Version 12.06 hasn't been offered to me yet, so I can't test the feature. However, I don't think it solves the issue I raised in my Garmin forum post.
In my testing, I don't think this "Sync with Explore App" toggle to prevent the unit from syncing actually works. If the "Sync with Explore App" toggle is turned ON the sync process occurs and a test waypoint I created is properly synced from Explore to the unit over as expected.

If the toggle is turned OFF, you would expect that NO sync would take place at all. But contrary to that, it still does and it still takes minutes with the spinning sync indicator happily active. The test waypoint is still synced over to the device (and vise versa), despite the Sync with Explore App toggle turned OFF. There is NO difference between having the toggle ON or OFF. It does the same sync.
So this seems to be broken from the get-go...or maybe it's user error?

Maybe others here (JungleJim, GPSrChive, whoever) can test this as well to verify my findings? BTW, my Explore App is updated and current.

I agree that the firmware update file should not automatically sync to the device (which can take ages). There should be an option to prevent this. But if Garmin cannot even get a "Sync with Explore App" feature working as intended, I doubt they could manage preventing a (possibly unwanted) firmware update file from being forcibly transferred to the device. Oh,and deleting the firmware update file (GUPDATE.GSP) from the device in case you don't wish to update to that version is pointless because at the next sync, it's once again pushed to the device...again taking ages. I have found the only way to prevent the update from occurring is to just decline the prompt to update at the device's power-on.

Seems to work fine on my device. When I disabled Sync with Explore App, no data is synced (I tested by creating a waypoint in Explore app and a waypoint on my H1). The sync process finishes very quickly, and the usual toast message with the type of items being synced is not shown. So it does seem to work as intended.

Strange. I create a waypoint on my eTrex Touch named "from etrex". I create a waypoint in Explore called "from Explore". I verify the Sync with Explore App is toggled OFF. I sync using Explore. After the lengthy sync (I have nearly 170 waypoints, one course and 8 activities), both waypoints are on both devices. I'm somewhat tempted to hard reset this thing and see if that resolves it.

I ended up wiping out (hard reset) the eTrex Touch 2 and force updated FW v12.06 back to it. I also wiped out the Explore App as well as the Garmin Connect app from my syncing iPad mini 6 (I only use this one mobile device for the task).

After doing so, the syncing issue I reported above seems to have been corrected. I don't know what specifically fixed it since I wiped out all three, then reinstalled everything from scratch.

I doubt it was user error (I have no problem admitting it, if it applies) but more like garbled/glitched settings somewhere.
