This is an old thread but I am hoping someone has an answer.
My 276cx is slow concerning the refreshing of road names.
I have done all of the following mentioned in this website and still the road names don't populate / refresh unless I am standing still.

One of the posters on this site "SEASDES" mentioned the comment below;

. "Load the map that is most important to you in the onboard memory, not the SD card. This makes the most difference."

I purchased with the 276cx a sd card with the entire USA n Canada on it.
Thje 276cx has 8gb of mem with 6 free for the user.
How do I get "the maps most important to me" into the 276cx.
Again, I have City Navigator 2024.1 but don't see anyway to extricate a portion of it much less how to get it onto the 276cx.
thank you for your help with this

Maybe make sure the firmware is updated to the latest (5.90), there were some changes made with different firmwares that improved display/map speed, and bugfixes along the way too.
Perhaps try setting map detail to a lower level.
Map speed to Normal instead of Fast.
The 276 also has a 'Declutter' feature but I think that turns off street names etc. in favour of showing waypoints and other map features.

As for how to load only a portion of the maps I have no idea, but remember something about it can be done.
Maybe with Basecamp?
Someone here will know.

In addition to my first post. I have found that changing map speed to 'Fast' speeds the GPSMap276cx even more.

Maybe it will increase battery consumption.

Not only maybe, it increases much battery consumption.
