I have an excellent Wi-Fi 6E router connected to an 8 Gbps fiber internet connection.
However, downloads for Outdoor Maps+ are very slow.
What Wi-Fi protocol does the H1 device support?
Is there a way to improve map download performance by connecting it to a PC?
Why isn't there an option to select maps by country or region?

Re: Outdoor Maps+ Slow Downloads
Hi,
I had the same problem and for me it turned out to be the encryption protocol.
My Ruckus AP was set for 'WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode'.
When set only for WPA2, everything worked fine...

I obeserved similiar behavior with my AVM VDSL router.
However, with my iPhone as hotspot the map download was very fast (several GB).
But, I have no explanation for this issue.

For me the same; the iPhone hotspot was no problem and fast, so I decided to check the encryption protocol.Madenburg wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 7:56 am I obeserved similiar behavior with my AVM VDSL router.

The mixed mode WPA2/WPA3 gives a very unstable download connection (or no download at all) on my GPSmap H1.
The unit only supports WPA2, rather strange for a brand new hardware model since the WPA2 encryption protocol is over 20 years old ...
So I created a wifi VLAN for my GPSmap H1 only, with only WPA2 turned on.

Thanks for the tip. With a separate WPA2 network, it now works as expected.

I wonder if this is a generic Garmin problem? In the past two or so years, I started having problems with my Fenix and Edge devices with wifi, likely since I enabled WPA3 (on top of WPA2).
I'll have to test this, but thanks a lot for the hint!
