Sorry,
I forgot to ask one more question, how to set the date and time on it, cause it is too old?

Archieve Perry's Website seems to have it.javawa wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 7:08 pm Installing maps on my eTrex Legend with firmware 3.90 is hassle-free. There are two different versions of the Legend though, hardware ID 179 and HWID 411; I have the latter. Maybe yours is 179? You can check the HWID with the program G7ToWin.
Repeating the previous question: which software an OS are you using? I use Windows XP and MapSource 6.13.7 (and G7ToWin), old software that works best with old hardware. Using Windows 10 or 11 may very well cause problems.
Regarding downgrading: I'm not aware of a site that has older firmware versions of very old devices like this eTrex Legend.
Like you, in the past I experience issues with Win10 and old devices regarding connection.

You should be using MapSource with the eTrex Legend, not BaseCamp.Iskren_ wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:52 pm Hi,
Today I spent time again trying to upload a map and no success again![]()

The program GPS EOW is a perfect solution for serial devices like this eTrex to correct the date to the right epoch. After that the device will set it to the right time when it has a sattelite fix.
Renaming files as in trying to load firmware for a device with a different HWID doesn’t sound like a good idea to me…

Re: Map transfer issues with eTrex Legend
Hi,
I did one more time firmware updating as original files from Garmin.com and still I can't upload any maps, no matter I use SourceMap.
Is it too complicated to me to understand the way I can post print screens into here, to show you what is going on with my device
So what I haven't tried is to use old Windows OS and try for one last time and after that if not fix the problem I'll just throw it away
Many thanks to all of you for the support!

Check if Base Camp ( Mapinstall) creates an .img file, insert the SD card into the reader, send a map fragment,
then check if a Garmin directory has been created on the card and if there is a file named GMAPSUPP.IMG in it.
You can try to send the map file with the sendmap20 program,
the program sends maps from img files to the device as well as from the computer's installation files,
e.g. an img file that was created on the card can be sent to the device.

I know that Etrez Legend does not support SD cards, I suggested inserting the card into the reader and connecting it to the computer

I don't know for that model, but the more recent model 60csx with windows 10 had fails/issues with usb for upgrading firmware...hence why my comment on to try other Operative Systems.Iskren_ wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 8:06 am Hi,

On your side I would try older windows, re-update firmware 3.90 and try to pass the maps on that os.
Or when you say you have issues with 3.90 all was working with earlier firmware on windows 11?
