GPSMAP 67 GPS accuracy

Some minor considerations when making an upgrade decision. The 67 has a fast boot time (8 sec?), larger display and a higher pixel count (screen resolution). The battery life is really good. From what you say it's exactly like the 66sr except for the lower battery life on the 66sr, that doesn't commit me to swapping the 66sr for the 67.
Garmin has not been able to evolve towards more high-end equipment for hiking GPS. He prefers to make watches rather than GPS, I looked at the number of watches that Garmin has made and still make it is breathtaking.

I have to agree with MarkHL on the positive attributes of the GPSMAP 67 with the 4.80 firmware. Yesterday, I used the 67 for a hike on local hiking trails and dirt roads for 4.5 hours in normal mode with GNSS and multi-band enabled. The accuracy was a consistent 6 foot and the downloaded track depicted on USGS 7.5' quads in ExpertGPS was spot-on for those trails and roads. At the end of the hike, the battery charge level was 96%.

My GPSMAP 67 was also "perfect" on the trail and on the road, while the predecessor 66r is much better. If you're happy with the accuracy, that's fine. 66r users expect better results or at least the same. Only battery life has been improved, perhaps at the expense of precision.

For those who want to test the accuracy of their GPSMAP 67. Set the recording interval to 2s and walk at a normal pace along the green line. If your 67 follows you from red edge to red edge, it is accurate. The rest of the accuracy stories don't make sense. 66r passes this test.

GPSmap 67 probably has a lot of advantages and should be presented, but the short start-up time of the device is not a convincing argument.
Longer start-up time translates into greater confidence that when we see the map on the screen, there has been a full acquisition of the setlites.

Colorado and Oregon 6X0 had exactly the same screen parameters,
same size and resolution.

The topic starter has a GPSMAP 65, so compared to that device the 67 has a larger screen and a higher pixel count.

Out of curiosity I timed my 66sr from when I press the power button and the map display with acquired satellites is 33 seconds. It's actually little compared to other Garmin GPS.

The startup time is influenced by the amount of data stored on the device.
If you want to shorten device boot time, delete kmz files especially located on SD card,
reduce number of gpx files, the number of vector maps is also important,
but is the launch time so important that we will resign from storing data in the device.
A few seconds difference doesn't matter.

I agree the time doesn't matter, I just have my JNX files because they are in a batch, you can't separate them, I don't have a KMZ because I have the JNX, I had tried the KMZ but the displays are longer than the JNX. My other Garmin topos maps are all disabled.
