Toggle Button wear

Unread post by RickN55 »

This is my second 67, the first I sent back due to wearing on the toggle button in the same position as this pic. But now my other 67 is starting to do the same (not as bad as the one I sent back) as you can see in the pic you can see the finish starting coming off on the edge of the toggle, just wondering if anyone else 67? or 66 series has/is doing the same? I never use hand creams or touch the device after using hand sanitiser or anything like that so it's nothing do with me it just seems to wear.

I had the same issue with my GPSMAP 67, all buttons had the finish coming off. Garmin initially wasn't willing to exchange to unit but eventually did anyway. The new unit is ok so far but in all honesty I haven't been using it very much yet.

This photo shows what my buttons looked like:

All buttons had the issue, some more than others.

Yours looks almost like the lacquer finish was peeling off. Mine is just the colour going funny on the edge of the toggle. All other buttons are fine on mine and the one I had before.

Yeah it was indeed like the top layer was coming off. If I hadn't been as visible or on as many buttons as on the photo I probably wouldn't have minded it, but this was just too much.

Perhaps your wear is more like you're hitting the button with the nail of your thumb or something like that?

Nah my nail never touches it and I always make sure I don't just use the edge of the toggle like I did on my first 67 and it's still done it. Anyhow I got in touch with Garmin and they're exchanging it for me, just end it off today via their UPS shipping. So hopefully should have another new 67 by end of next week. Just be interesting in anyone else with 66/67 has the same issue.
