Startup Message
 

• Can you edit a simple text file in Notepad? (try notepad++)
• If so, you can create a custom startup message to be displayed on your Garmin GPSr splash screen during the boot process.
• The length of the startup message is limited to five lines of text, with a maximum of 256 total characters.
• Each line will be centered on the screen, just above the GARMIN logo, during the boot process.
• You can also adjust the length of time (number of seconds) the message will be displayed.
• The startup.txt file must remain located in the [GPSr]\Garmin\ directory.
• Connect your Garmin GPSr via USB in Mass Storage Mode.
• Open the [GPSr]\Garmin\startup.txt file for editing.

The default file will look similar to this:

The file above has no message and the display time is set to zero, resulting in no startup message being displayed.



Below is a modified startup.txt file:
