B1.) What are Profiles?
Profiles allow you to save and recall all of your preferences on the Garmin Oregon at once. Usually the group of settings in a Profile are specific to a type of activity and the way that you use the Oregon during that activity. For example, the default Profiles include Automotive and Marine. The settings in these two Profiles differ to optimize the use of the Oregon for driving on the road (i.e. Automotive map view) or on the water (i.e. use of Nautical units). Switching Profiles allows you to quickly change back and forth between the activities without having to reconfigure each individual setting.
In order to use Profiles you need to do the following:
- Activate the profile you would like to change by selecting Main Menu>Profile Change>[select profile].
-
Change the settings you would like to have saved in this profile . This includes all of the configuration options in Main Menu>Setup, the Trip Computer dashboard, and data fields on the Trip Computer, Compass, Map and Altimeter pages.
-
You can now switch to another profile and the settings above will be preserved so that the next time you activate this profile all of the changes made in step 2) will be restored.
Tip: Profiles can also be a convenient way for multiple users to share the same Oregon since many settings are based on personal preference. Profiles can be created which customize the Oregon for each user.

B2.) How do I know which Profile is set?
Goto Main Menu>Profile Change and the current Profile will be displayed at the top of the screen.
B3.) Is there an easier way to see which profile is set without having to go the Profile Change tool?
For each profile you can set different backgrounds to help remind you which profile is currently set. You can also add the Profile Change tool to the first page of the Main Menu to make it easier to find.
B4.) Can I add new profiles? How?
Yes. Goto Main Menu>Setup>Profiles and select <Create New Profile>.
B5.) How do I delete a profile?
First change to a Profile other than the one you want to delete using the Profile Change tool. You cannot delete the profile that you are currently using. Then select Main Menu>Setup>Profiles>[select profile name to delete]>Delete.
B6.) How do I change the name of a profile?
Main Menu>Setup>Profiles>[select profile name to change]>Edit Name.
B7.) Is there a faster way to change profiles than selecting Main Menu>Profile Change each time?
Not really. The only optimization is to make sure that the Profile Change tool is available in every profile on the first page of the Main Menu and in the same location. For example, my Profile Change tool is located fifth in the list in every profile under Setup>Main Menu.
B8.) I want to set a new background image but I can't select the images I just downloaded. Why?
The Oregon is limited to 25 background images. You'll need to remove a few from your profile directory before you can see the new images.
B9.) What is the maximum number of profiles supported by the Oregon?
Ten profiles maximum. The <Create New Profile> button disappears after creating the 10th profile.
B10.) Where can I find the original Oregon
x00 or x50 Profiles?
Download original profiles for
Oregon x00 or
Oregon x50.

- Add the ability to have measured data fields (e.g. odometer, average speed) be profile specific so that switching the profile would restore the previously saved values for the restored profile.
-
All configuration should be per profile but certain configuration options like Language, Units, Battery Type, Time Zone should query the user and give them the option to change the option across all profiles.
