GPSMAP 66 Firmware 6.00

GPSMAP 66 Firmware Update 6.00 released 25NOV20:
Changes made from version 5.00 to 6.00:
- Added support for starting navigation from the Explore App.
This update is being released in stages via Garmin Express, and should be available to everyone soon.

At least i can observe this (same as for 65):
Added support for SK-42 grid system.
Added support for Swiss Grid CH-1903+ grid system.
Added support for GDA 2020 map datum.
Notes for a few other bugs.
Bug 83. Numerical keyboard in search, the same issue is present in software versions 4.70, 4.80, 5.00 and 6.00.
Bug 84. I have not had the issue with software higher than 4.20. In case no one else has it perhaps it can be disregarded.
Bug 87 and crash 10. Wifi related. Still present in 5.00 and 6.00.
Bug 94. Backlight. Issue not present on my device with software 5.00, nor 6.00. (but others may still see it it looks like).

One of our GPSMAP 66 units running firmware 4.90 already has those three Grids available, so I do not believe they are 'new' to version 6.00.
We have updated the bugs you listed in the GPSrChive > GPSMAP 66 > Common Issues page.

My mistake in that case, i did not notice those changes earlier. Waiting for the release notes..

There’s considerable size difference between them for a GCD file. Should be interesting to see what it is. More than bug fixes.

After five days, Garmin had not reveal the content of the new firmware update. It's odd to me.

This is true for several current model firmware releases.
We are checking them all several times daily, and will update the appropriate pages at GPSrChive immediately once the information is published.
Edit: Garmin GPSMAP 66 Firmware page was just updated, see
first post in this thread for the one single change.

Honestly, I am very surprised with this update. Only one change? Garmin change the version 5.00 to 6.00 and only add this (?)
"Added support for starting navigation from the Explore App."
(I'm waiting for my new Garmin GPS, the GPSMAP 66s. I started with the blue Etrex Legend, do you remember it?)
