GPSMAP 66 Firmware Update 5.00 BETA released 30OCT20:
Changes made from version 4.90 to 5.00:
- Fixed issue causing some software updates to fail.
- Fixed issue that could occur when clearing geocaching live data while navigating to a geocache.

Made an successful update to my 4.2 version that couldn't update. Seems to start well.

The geocaching proximity alert seems to be working nicely now with large .ggz files. Tested it with a .ggz containing almost 10000 caches. No boot problems so far.

Seems prudent to wait if they haven’t even claimed to address issues with the last couple of versions.
No choice I guess if you were one of those with bricked units.
Ohh.. you have to copy the update file to the disk manually
haha!

non-beta firmware 5.00 was made available in northern europe today.
