Hi.
I observed that when on the Trip computer page, and if a message pops up (say a proximity alarm or a speed camera alert), the data fields stop being updated while the message shows. This is different (and worse) from earlier devices in which the data fields still updated underneath the message.
Say that you travel and get a speed camera alert, as long as the message is displayed you cannot see your actual speed, you will only see the speed which you had when the message first displayed. (given that speed is one of the data fields you have).
I suggest that the data fields should be updated even when a message is shown.

987, have you retested this with current firmware version? Does the behavior still exist?

Yes, all previous versions of firmware including 7.60 (which is the newest as of the time of writing) show this behaviour.

987, can you name some previous models that do update data fields while alerts or messages are displayed? I want to test, but need to know which models to test with for comparison.

From what i recall etrex vista hcx continues to update the data fields on the trip computer page even if a message is shown. I cannot check since i only have the GPSMAP 66st at the moment.

Added to GPSrChive > GPSMAP 66s/st/sr/i > Common Issues > Missing Features list.

I will submit a note to Garmin software engineers.
