Vista firmware rollback

Hello!

I recently got an original Vista new in box and am having some trouble with it.

First thing i did was upgrade to 3.80, but that somehow erased the basemap. I tried reloading it from the Marine POI thing via Garmin, but have had no luck. I also tried loading a topo map and trail map via MapSource and that also didn't work. Waypoints and Routes via MapSource DO however work and are displayed correctly on the map screen. It's just maps that never work.

Gps, Baro and Compass all work fine yet.

Is this bad firmware? Bad flash? User error?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Is your Vista Rev A, or Rev B?

What method was used for the firmware update?

I used webupdater for the initial update.
Unsure of the hardware version.

Some progress since posting:
I found Perry's archive of firmware on the wayback machine and they still work!

Downgraded to just 3.70 via UPDATE.exe and now maps load fine. I did try the archived version of 3.80 and that brought the map issue back. Downgraded again and it's running fine. Only issue now is the clock/date is wrong, week rollover issue.

Please see GPSrChive > How To... > EOW for help getting the date/time corrected.
