Map find options.

In the map page I click menu and I get 6 options.
I press find and go to "recent finds" and load the map at the find.
At this point I only have 4 options in menu on the map page, measure distance and geocache filter disappear.

So I'm trying to measure the distance between a recent an airport(recent find)and a hotel, the measure option is gone. It works on the plain map page but not when using "find".

I don't know the country very well(japan) and can't easily find the two locations to measure it on the map page.

Why would the options disappear? Is it a special garmin function?

Do you want straight line distance or driving distance?

Create a Course or a Route with one location as the starting point and the other as the ending point, and voila! You will see the distance between them!

When creating a course, use 'Direct Path' for straight line distance or 'Roads & Trails' for driving distance.

Detailed instructions below:

GPSrChive > GPSMAP 67 > Main Menu > Course Planner > Create A Course

GPSrChive > GPSMAP 67 > Main Menu > Route Planner > Create A Route

Tried this but it does work, the course ends up as 0 miles as the place I want to go to doesn't have a name just picture( its in Japanese). It works in the middle East as it has Arabic language font installed but not for Japan to just shows an empty name field. Even the distance is shown correct when I search for ->find->recent finds->Osaka. I now have to move the cursor or when I press find again I get just stuff local to the gps position not osaka. Then -find (again)->entertainment->bar or nightclub->

There is pages listed, with distances in ft and in miles but no names ao I can't create a route to measure it.
If the measure function works on the map page why take it away once I've used the find button.. makes no sense.

Your idea of creating of route is really a work around , just trying to measure between two places on the map in a large busy city. I can't the places without using "find" even if I set them as way points there are too many toilet and hospital symbols plastered all over the map making them imposible to see.

Distance measurement can be done using the Where to option.
Where the image (without a name) is located place a waipoint, then select the Where to option - Waiponts - after selecting the point (image without a name) you will get the distance in a straight line, after accepting you will get the distance on the roads in the Distanse toDestation data field in the Trip Computer.
This is one of many possibilities. .
