The CPE file used by the GPSMAP 67 only contains data for GPS, Galileo and GLONASS (this can be easily verified because the CPE.bin file is a Tar archive file containing three files for these GNSSes).
Does anyone know why there is no CPE data for BeiDou? And probably for QZSS and NavIC as well? Is this a limitation of these GNSS systems or is it an implementation choice by Garmin?
The result (obviously) is that when turning on my GPSMAP 67 and with a current CPE file, the unit receives a good signal from multiple GPS, Galileo and GLONASS satellites within a short timeframe. But for BeiDou it takes a lot longer to get a good signal from multiple satellites.

Re: No CPE data for BeiDou
I noticed this after installing firmware 8.30 on my 67i, and wondered if the issue had existed previously. Beidou seems to take much longer to get a fix, and shows fewer satellites, than what I recall from previous times. With a current CPE file, GPS and Galileo have a fix on 8-10 satellites each within a few seconds, while Beidou might have a fix on 2 satellites after 20 minutes. (This is indoors beside a window where there is decent reception.) If CPE was never available for Beidou, my recollection could be wrong (unless Beidou reception is also worse in recent firmware versions.) At the least, Beidou shows far fewer satellites than GPS or Galileo, even after several hours.JungleJim wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 4:32 pm The result (obviously) is that when turning on my GPSMAP 67 and with a current CPE file, the unit receives a good signal from multiple GPS, Galileo and GLONASS satellites within a short timeframe. If you do backups, there will be no problem finding historical files .
Baidou appears to have never been in the CPE file.

Re: No CPE data for BeiDou
On my GPSMAP 67, which I bought shortly after launching, the CPE file has never contained data for other GNSSs than GPS, Galileo and GLONASS. So it's not something that has changed with recent firmware updates.
For me BeiDou also does take quite some time to get a good signal on multiple satellites. It starts with one or two satellites with good signal after turning on the unit, but in the end after several minutes up to like 15 minutes or so there are around 10 satellites with a good signal.
But to be honest I think it has always been like this, even with older firmwares. And I guess it really depends on where you are located and the conditions you are in how long it takes to get a good signal.

Any new insights on this? I had a chat with Garmin support about this, but the support rep wasn't able to get any more details on this issue.GPSrChive wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 7:40 pm Thank you for pointing this out. I'll see what I can find out and report back here!
