Weather Not Connected

Unread post by agentwayward »

Hi, I have a new SE here. I've upgraded the firmware to 4.2
I'm running Garmin Explore. The SE is connected and synced to it.
I've allowed all permissions and checked on the phone to be sure of that.
Full satellite coverage outside. Data on phone working.

The weather Glance states "Not Connected".

When I open the weather, it states "Forecast Updating" which goes on for some time then fails with:
"Failed to send the Forecast request. Try again later."

I've restarted both the SE and phone. I've reset. I've re synced.
No change. I even tried installing Garmin Connect instead of Explore, no difference.

Am I missing something?

Phone model and OS version?

Does Garmin Explore (version?) show the device is connected and syncing?

Thank you.

Thank you!

We will test with our eTrex later today, perhaps others will report their findings also.

Initially, the weather glance indicated not connected then forecast updating displayed and within a few seconds, the weather forecast appeared as normal. I also have an android Samsung phone (S24 Ultra). I have both Garmin Connect and Garmin Explore active.

Tested both our eTrex SE and eTrex Solar, and both were able to retrieve full weather updates from our Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G within 30 seconds of requesting them.

Make certain your Android phone is not limiting Explore or Express to save battery power.

Thanks for the responses.

The Explore app is active and open on the screen. (Connect is also active).
I cannot see how the phone can prevent them from working in this condition.

One thing, in app permissions for Explore, there is a Files and Media selection which is marked as "Off" but upon opening it, which opens the actual app permissions in Android, there is no permission to be granted. Is that the same for your phones?

Update.

This is now working.

So, clicking on the weather glance went to the "weather updating" then failed to send request message.

Eventually, after much messing about, I added "weather" to the main menu. Clicked on that and it updated straight away and has been working since, perfectly.

Thank you for the update!

We will attempt to duplicate that behavior on our eTrex SE and report our results to Garmin.
