Alphabetical search of waypoints in 7.60

Unread post by Exit106 »

Not sure if this was present in previous version of the firmware. Notice in 7.6

In the FIND button or in the Waypoints Manager menu, doing a search with Find in List produces random results following first letter typed. Ex. searching for VILLAGE produces Washington after typing vi. Quite sure this was not the case before this firmware update.

Any info here would be helpful.

Thx

Unable to reproduce here on our 67 or 67i models.

Perhaps remove all waypoint GPX files, reboot, then add them back systematically, testing each time?

Yes good point. I thought of a corrupted file if no one experienced the issue I was having.
Thx for the input.

Reloaded a new recompiled waypoint file with no success in doing an alphabetical search.

The first letter in the search delivers a credible start of the search, but any subsequent input brings up nothing that comes close to want I'm looking for.

I replaced the whole GPX folder and reloaded slowly by batch. I also took the waypoint file and swapped it out from the waypoint file with no luck. I then took the file from the 67i to my old 78s and the search works fine.

Still wondering how this happened but I think this his from the latest firmware update.

Still wondering if others find a similar problem.

Can you share your waypoints?

Some testing with your waypoint GPX:

After entering "Vi" as you do, we noticed that any and all waypoints with "vi" in the title will be displayed in order of nearest first, farthest last.

After entering "Vill" our list barely changed (we have waypoints with these letters in the title), but once we entered "Villa", your 'Village Chic-Choc' was properly displayed.

What happens when you get to this many letters entered during the Alphabetical search?

What you are getting is what I would expect. Not what happens on my 67i.

As I type V it all happens as it should, then adding the VI comes up with Washinqton. Not what i want, as you can guess.
Now wondering if I will have to reset the device as all other files seem to behave the same.

I sill think this comes from my latest firmware upgrade.

Any more insight would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

Interesting, which language is your device configured to use? Maybe change language, reboot, then back to original and reboot?

Changing language did not work.

I noticed that if I start the search by sort “Nearest” then the result can then be searched alphabetically with success.
Just not able to search alphabetically from the start after entering the menu. This is still not ideal, but can be manageable, if it is consistent.

Might still consider a full factory reset and see what happens.

Thx
