Montana 7x0 AMPS Rugged Mount: How can I activate the Safety Trigger (pin 3)?

Does anyone know how pin 3 (Safety Trigger) works on the Montana 7x0 AMPS Rugged Mount?
I found a youtube video that is 4 minutes long and shows a 3D printed adapter for a phone in the Garmin Montana mount.

That solution looks really cool so I thought of trying to make my own but instead of having a loose cable on the side why not try to take power directly from the mount.
