You can, but the Montana will not read all 64GB available.

Re: Carte SD
Do you have any idea, how this can be tested? I know, that you insist, that Montana cannot read all 64GB, but based on my experience, I am not able to see this problem. I have about 45GB of maps on my sd card and all maps just work fine and are fully shown. Routing works, Waypoints work. Really don't see any problems during usage.
Please keep in mind, that Windows itself is unable to format cards bigger than 32GB with FAT32, as it only offers exFAT and NTFS, which are not supported by Garmin, only FAT32. You need to use external tools like Rufus.

Re: Carte SD
At least Garmin is stating on their website, that the sd card storage is sized up to 32GB. But who knows garmin, maybe it is possible to use more, but it is not guaranteed and maybe bugs could appear.ConiKost wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2023 7:30 amDo you have any idea, how this can be tested? Re: Carte SD
Support for a card over 32 GB requires the exFat file system, in Garmin devices the Fat32 file system is used.
There are programs that format cards over 32 GB in the Fat 32 file system,
a 64 GB card formatted in this way can be used in Garmin devices.

Re: Carte SD
Do you mean I can also use the whole 64GB of the SD card or only 32GB of the 64GB? Is there a upper bound for the size of the sd card or is it also possible to do for SD cards over 64GB?

Re: Carte SD
After proper formatting of the card, the entire memory space will be available.
The problem may be that not every card over 32 GB can be successfully formatted to exFat.
I have a 128GB card that loses data when formatted to fat32.

Re: Carte SD
Is it known which SD cards over 32GB can be successfully formatted into Fat32 without any loss?

Re: Carte SD
I try to have as little data as possible in the device, I use 128 GB cards for other purposes, so I will not answer which type of 64 GB cards can be successfully formatted to Fat 32.
In general, in my opinion, there is no need to use large cards in the device, even if I need to use .kmz or .jnx maps,
I use a small area in justified cases, they concern a specific area within 10x10 km.
For vector maps, 32 GB is probably enough,a large proportion of users.
