The eTrex 10 will not power when using batteries.

When either plugged into a computer or USB plug it powers on as normal, but here's where it gets weird. I can turn the device off by pressing the power button but it will not switch back on. To get the device to turn back on I have to unplug and reinsert the cable.

The power button does function when it's pressed while the device is plugged in and switched on.

tried new batteries
tried cleaning contacts
unable to perform hard reset

Any Ideas?

So even after powered on via USB, with new batteries installed correctly, if you remove USB power, will the device remain powered on, or does it power off immediately?

BTW, your eTrex 10 may have chosen the perfect time to start developing issues. I suspect you will want to upgrade it very soon...

as soon as USB cable is removed the device powers off

I got in contact with Garmin and they offered me an exchange despite the fact I never purchased the etrex10 from them. Happy with that to be honest
