Merging tracks in BaseCamp

Unread post by Nail »

I'm trying to merge two traces in BaseCamp. The program connects the far ends instead of the nearest ones. I've connected the tracks before and there was no such problem. I will add that the tracks are in the same direction. I don't know how to make them connect where I want. Program version 4.7.4

you have to select the direction and also which track goes before and which track goes after

See GPSrChive > BaseCamp > Tracks > Join Tracks.

Doesn't work.

There is no such menu and functions as in the manual.

There certainly is!

We just followed the instructions precisely to verify the feature is still present in BaseCamp v4740.

Which version of BaseCamp are you using?

The instructions show that we select the advanced option from the context menu (step 4. Right-click).
This option is not available in the context menu.
The "Ctrl" button also doesn't work for selecting tracks.
"Shift" is the right one.
"Advanced > Join the Selected Tracks" They are in the "Edit" menu.

It certainly is. Most BaseCamp users can find it without any trouble.

Again, for most BaseCamp users, it works just fine.

We are trying to help you determine why you are unable to use this feature.

See the first post of this topic :).
Program version 4.7.4
All in all, my problem is solved and I can connect traces. In a different way, but I can.

We are happy you were able to find a solution, however...

Using the [Shift] and/or [Ctrl] keys when selecting data in BaseCamp serve two entirely different purposes. These features are not unique to BaseCamp. These features are standard Micro$oft Windows operating system functions.
  • Holding [Shift] and left clicking any two data items will cause all items between them to be highlighted.
  • Holding [Ctrl] and left clicking any number of data items will only cause the selected items to be highlighted.
I find it very peculiar that the [Shift] function works for you, but not the [Ctrl] function, and would like to try to find out what is different on your machine to cause this abnormality.
