GPSMAP 66sr Firmware 5.70

GPSMAP 66sr Firmware Update 5.70 released 10FEB23:
Changes made from version 5.50 to 5.70:
- Fixed possible issue when attempting to navigate courses.
- Fixed possible issue with searching for waypoints near a city.
- Fixed missing/expired CPE status using Wi-Fi.
- Fixed potential issues with acquiring a GPS fix using Multi-GNSS.
- Fixed possible shutdown when saving activities from the map page.
This update is being released in stages via Garmin Express, and should be available to everyone soon.

Indeed I got an updated CPE.Bin File, when I connected my 66sr via Wi-Fi. Still you get not updated CPE.Bin File, if you just synchronize it via Garmin Express. At least I can live with it as no smartphone user. So I have no more complaints about it.

Just received this update through... Garmin Connect I guess? The multi-GNSS bug should have warranted a quicker update though. Randomly having to change the settings or even reboot the unit was really troublesome for me.

I installed it this morning, I will see if it updates well with WiFi and if the update is automatic. Thanks for the news.

This morning on 02/13, the CPE was well updated by WiFi.

When you say updated by WiFi do you mean via Garmin Connect in your phone? Or is there a way to do it directly over WiFi? I'm not familiar with that method but would like to know how to do it. Thank you.

You just have to connect your 66sr to a WiFi (for example your home hotspot) and it will download it by itself. Unfortnuately there is no notification, if it did it. You can only see, if you connect your 66sr to a computer and look at the GPS folder, when the CPE.Bin was changed. Or your file was expired and should be not expired anymore, what you also can look up under "Setup->About" on your device.

No sign of the 5.70 update as yet here in the UK via Garmin Express, Connect or Explore app as yet.
Excited to see this one roll-out

Today in Poland Garmin gave us a valentine in the form of 5.70
