I have a 65s which I love it comes pretty much everywhere with me. I am looking at treating myself to the 66sr to add to the collection. I am just wondering if it is worth the upgrade and is the 66sr any more accurate than the 65s? I believe they both use the same sats and multi band?

Also I've been told the 65s is discontinued by Garmin is this true and others have said it is still supported? Will the 65 get future software updates?

The GPSMAP 66sr is no more accurate or precise than the GPSMAP 65 models.

Beyond that, the GPSMAP 66sr does provide many additional features and improved display resolution.

See GPSrChive > GPSMAP 65s > Specifications vs GPSrChive > GPSMAP 66sr > Specifications to compare raw data.

See GPSrChive > GPSMAP 65s > Features vs GPSrChive > GPSMAP 66sr > Features for additional clarity.

After all that, I would not recommend buying anything new for at least a month or two...

Also, we are not aware of the GPSMAP 65 being discontinued by Garmin.

Yeah looking at it like that I might just save the money and keep the 65s.I've had the 65 nearly a year it has been great and gets used daily. Only issue I sometimes have with it is, every now an then it will only pick GPS up when you turn it on and the accuracy won't go much below 15feet but I have sussed out the issue is corrupt position files in the cpe.bin. Quick sync on Express is all that's needed other than that it's pretty bullet proof. But I've heard the 66sr isn't with out the odd gremlin or two..

If you are already 65 and happy, why change?
Better spend your money on a more interesting adventure :).
