Map size on SD card

Unread post by Matijs »

I experienced another issue recently.
Wanted to share if others also experience this, or it’s more related to device/sd card.

I copied about 10 birdseye imagefiles to my SD card (SanDisk high endurance 32GB)
Then i copied 2 maps directly to my sd via separate card reader and via file management tool, so not via basecamp.
1 is a map of about 300mb, the other (openfietsmap 2023) is about 1.1Gb.

When booting with this sd card in the gpsmap, the startup isn’t even completed and gpsmap shuts down again.
after 3 times, it starts up, but no external maps to be found in the map config screen.

(Initially I only copied the Birdseye files and they appeared ok in my map view and map config screen).

OK so what I did then is remove the Openfietsmap .img file from the sd card Garmin folder and reinserted.
Startup…is working normal.
All cards and birdseye files back available.

Does the gpsmap have issues with larger map files?

No, I load maps that are nearly 4GB without issues.

Sounds like there is a problem with the third party map you are trying to load :(
