If I do open Main menu -> Saved Tracks -> Archived Tracks, I get a list of all my tracks, which are being saved in the Track Archive (/Garmin/GPX/Archive).

On Top, I have an entry called 'Auto'. Upon clicking, I get "No Results Found".
Could someone explain me, what the purpose of 'Auto' is? What does it try to search?

We are just as puzzled as you are by this behavior, so we have requested Garmin provide some clarification....

Probably a place where the GPSr stores "automatically archived tracks", which it only does if you set it to archive tracks daily.

If you haven't enabled automatic daily track archive, Auto will be empty.

Just guessing here.

Garmin have responded and indicated this is in fact a bug.

This 'Auto' menu selection should populate a list of all 'auto-archived' track log recordings.

But do we have a bug here? Please note, all my tracks named YYYY-MM-DD are not auto created, but manually imported from Basecamp. I created and named them manually YYYY-MM-DD.

So if ,Auto‘ is supposed for automatically recorded tracks on Montana, then it would be correct, as I don‘t have any on my Montana?

Yes, there is a bug.

Thanks. So the 'Auto' contains all automatic recorded tracks?

Sounds like it, but can not confirm until it is fixed!

I guess, I can reproduce the bug. I enabled automatic recording and set to archive daily. Recording got now archived, but 'Auto' still doesn't find anything.

Garmin replied and confirmed, that this is a bug.
