As my Montana 750i arrived, I noticed, that with the current Garmin Express version (7.9.1.0), I am not able to install City Navigator or TopoActive through 'manage maps' function in Garmin Express on sd card. It's just not offered. I am not sure, if this a bug or intended by Garmin? I know, that older versions of Garmin Express had offered sd card install. Garmin Express also recognize the sd card just fine. Tried multiple brands with multiple sizes. None work in this function.

Even worse, if I do uninstall TopoActive via 'manage maps' function in Garmin Express, the worldwide base map and dem file are also removed. Thanks god I took, before doing anything, a complete full backup of internal storage.

Other additional purchased maps can be installed on sd card just fine, but this seems to be a different function.

I believe this is intentional, as these are the two primary maps the device needs to function, and they want these installed to internal memory only.

The only problem is, that latest City Navigator Europe + TopoActive Europe are too big to fit on internal memory.

Currently, as a workaround, I moved TopoActive to sd card manually via Explorer (works fine).

It looks like, that firmware 10.50 has some changes, as Garmin Express offers now sd card install again.

I just gave a try Install works just perfectly fine on sd card. Seems, Garmin fixed that finally.
