Re: GPSMAP 67 series Announced
Looks like your answer will be "No." - because JaVaWa Device Manager looks only for mounted drives, and does not see the GPSMAP 67 series when connected in MTP mode.

Another limitation.
So users will be left with manual backup.

If we cannot access the internal TXT file of the 67 because in MTP, how can we personalize the start-up message?GPSrChive wrote: Sun Mar 26, 2023 9:08 pm Yes, the custom startup message still works on the device.

See the discussions in GPSMAP 67 - No USB Mass Storage Mode, only MTP? on what is exposed via MTP.mimichris wrote: Thu Mar 30, 2023 7:35 am If we cannot access the internal TXT file of the 67 because in MTP, how can we personalize the start-up message?
As for the startup.txt file, you simply modify it in the same way as with the other devices that have a startup.txt.

Sorry, but that's not a limitation of Garmin. MTP does exist for many many years. JaVaWa Device Manager needs to add support for MTP.

If it worked well before and now it doesn't and someone has to put in the work to make it work, then there is a limitation.ConiKost wrote: Thu Mar 30, 2023 12:31 pm Sorry, but that's not a limitation of Garmin. MTP does exist for many many years. JaVaWa Device Manager needs to add support for MTP.
In this forum, the introduction of MTP was considered a limitation.
But am I wrong?

Re: GPSMAP 67 series Announced
I guess, that depends on the point of view. MTP is a standard, which does exist for a long time. This is not something, which Garmin has invented. A modern software in 2023 should always support MTP. Same applies for Mapsource, which does not understand MTP, while BaseCamp does.Nail wrote: Thu Mar 30, 2023 1:48 pmIf it worked well before and now it doesn't and someone has to put in the work to make it work, then there is a limitation.ConiKost wrote: Thu Mar 30, 2023 12:31 pm Sorry, but that's not a limitation of Garmin. Re: GPSMAP 67 series Announced
I think it was not mention here yet, but I noticed, that the GPSMAP 67 is noticeable faster in terms of scrolling and zooming through the map.
Also you have to push the turn on button a bit longer to turn it on. Before that, in the 66sr you had to push it down just shortly like turning on the screen when it was in battery save mode.

I'm sorry to say, but that will never happen. I stopped the development of my programs six years ago, after I had a stroke.ConiKost wrote: Thu Mar 30, 2023 12:31 pm Sorry, but that's not a limitation of Garmin. MTP does exist for many many years. JaVaWa Device Manager needs to add support for MTP.
