Search for cities not working [Bug 73] [Crash 8]

My GPSMAP 66 v5.00 has a combined total of 13 maps consisting of 2210 segments using 13.11 GB of storage space.

Now I need to load some more maps to get my device closer to yours for re-testing.

OK, I have loaded more maps to my GPSMAP 66 v5.00 and performed new tests:

GPSr: 2 maps, 553 segments (3.01 GB)
microSD: 18 maps, 3701 segments (24.66 GB)

Total: 20 maps, 4254 segments (27.51 GB)

Selecting 'Find > Cities' returns results within 7-9 seconds every time with all maps enabled.

Selecting 'Menu >'Use Best Maps' does not change behavior in any perceptible manner, providing results in 7-10 seconds every time.

How much time are you seeing before results are displayed when you test?

7-9 seconds, wow. that is blistering fast.

From the moment i press Cities till something shows up in the list (without doing any search) it takes around 5-10 seconds, not fast but ok.
The problems start after this stage, from within the Cities pressing menu -> spell search.
Spelling some location, such as Berlin (which is around 800 km away) can take almost 2-3 minutes just to type in because the device hangs between the key presses.
After the complete name is entered and Done is pressed, it takes anything from 30 seconds to a few minutes to find the location.

One thing that i accidentally observed just now, is that when typing in the city while doing spell search is this.
If i press the letters in a fast sequence, the device hangs for long periods between the letters, but if i wait 3-5 seconds between each letter the typing goes smoothly.
Does the key buffer get full and the device exchausted?

After i have pressed done also the search for the city is somewhat faster if i take a slower approach in the typing.

To add to my last comment, the effect of fast typing is much worse when having a lot of maps than only a few.

I have verified sluggish performance especially when using 'Spell Search'.
