I don't think that word means what you think it means.

🤔

I suggest conducting an experiment - deactivating all maps in the device,
leaving only the base map active.

The altitude will be displayed at each selected location.

Where do the altitude data come from?

The "gmapbmap" map left on the device is the only one that does not display altitude data.

The base map contains altitude data
The test was carried out on a base map from the GPSMPA 67 device.
Picture 1 - only the base map in the device
Picture 2 - there was no map in the device
Spoiler
Data from the basemap.jpg
Data without a basemap.jpg
In the first case, the height data comes from the base map, the height is displayed, in the second case (without the base map) there is no height data.

@ GPSrChive
There is a base map and a (own) map in the device, on the own map in Base Camp the altitude data is not displayed,
in the device I point to a point on the map and "Go", somehow (miraculously) in the Vert Dist to Dest field the data is displayed.

Maybe try explaining why vertical height data is displayed.

@Przekątny

I suspect a language barrier may be hampering this discussion.

Please re-read this entire thread.

Altitude and Elevation are not the same.

Altitude is not Elevation.

Elevation is not Altitude.

I will ask again on what basis the device determines the vertical distance to the target in the case described.

As previously stated:
The elevation distance between your current position and the final destination. You must be navigating for this data to appear.

So I ask further: where does the software get information about the height above sea level of the target point?

When it comes to the height above sea level of the current position, the matter is clear.
