Re: Some geocache problems

I made a hard reset. But sometimes it appears that garmin works worse than bevor.
Sometimes garmin does his job, sometimes it reboot again and again.
My problems aftet reset:
1.
Garmin reboots if I want to see the geocache lists
2.
When I can sync a list, it stops bevor 100%. If I sync again, I habe double entries.
3.
Sometimes garmin reboots when I read the listing of a cache
4.
If I delete the caches of a list, garmin doesn’t delete.
5.
If I delete live data, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes garmin deletes, but a ghost entry with botton appears
5.
If I switch the garmin on, sometimes the backlight is off, after circa 15 sec or pushing the button again light goes on.
6.
When garmin starts and has contact to the satellites sometimes it zooms not in the map, I see the whole europe map.
I don‘t understand that garmin sometimes do something and sometimes not.
I wrote an email to garmin support, but 7 days no answer (only notice of arrivle). Over 2 month no update.
For geocaching the GPSMAP 67 is useless yet. I like the GPSMAP 67, I don‘t like the build-in battery, but the software is wast.
I‘m intersted in ideas to solve the problems.

I have tested today using a GPSMAP 67, with several smaller geocache lists (50-250 caches each), and have not been able to reproduce any of these issues.
I suspect the 'Ghost Entries' are lists that are incompletely loaded.
How many caches in the lists you are having issues with?
Are you using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to load them?

I have similar issues. I have a few small lists (at most 22 caches, I synced one of them just fine).
Then I created a fairly big PQ (limited to 1000 caches but containing 732 caches) that got stuck on 44%. After trying to remove its data (and all other live geocaching live data) the device reboots when I try to select the "Geocache Lists".
I've deleted the PQ from the geocaching website. It's still there, but with a line through it. If I understand the process correctly, it will be gone completely in a while? I'll try again then and see how it goes. (At the moment, my Garmin GPSMAP 67i keeps rebooting if I try to see the lists.)
(It does seem like the ghost icons are gone for me now. There were there for a while after deleting the live data. It used to only be present in some zoom levels.)

I used both, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but Blootooth has often connecting problems like the oregon 700.
I synced successfully small list with 7 and 14 caches. But a 44 and 254 cache list stopped loading. After than no cache can be loaded.
After over a week I wrote again an email to garmin support. They answered they are busy and mostly the problems where solved on other ways. But if I further want help, I have to answer to this email and the will prioritze my request. What a service…

On the geocaching website, I currently have 0 PQ:s and 0 PQ:s ready for download.
I decided to unregister the device for geocaching. Then reset the device completely (deleting everything and reverting to factory settings).
After registering the device for geocaching, I was able to get the list of geocaches without the device rebooting, but the deleted PQ is still there for some reason.
I tried syncing 2 of my previous list. One (with 16 caches) got stuck on 50%, the other (with 2 caches) got stuck on 0%. (I did however try to start syncing the one with 2 caches after the one with 16 caches got stuck.)
After retrying a few times (including removing them and starting over completely), I was able to sync the 2 lists.
The PQ is still visible on the garmin device for some reason. Perhaps the 67i is connected to another server that lags behind a bit more than the website?

If you while showing the map press menu, select Geocache Filter, select Geocache Files. Is Live Data selected? In that case, perhaps that's what's creating duplicates?

I had a reply from G Support saying that
They could not replicate
They had not heard of any issue
I have replied as to my actions and referred them to the GPSRchive “ for 67 bugs etc”
The reply came from marine support at Garmin!
Will keep forum informed
Mike

I had a theory that this was related to me checking the box "Include Pocket Query name in download file name", so I made a new PQ with the same name as before but with 421 caches instead of 732.
On the garmin device I can see both of them in the list (even though the one with 732 is not visible on the geocaching website). This is after unregistering the device from geocaching and doing a full reset again. (I've lost count of how many times I've done a full reset by now.)
Anyway, unchecking that box did not help.
I made another list with 62 caches, and it's stuck syncing at 52%.

I had a telephone call with the Garmin support. I‘m the second person who has problems with geocache bookmark lists. In the next three weeks there will be no update. A man said it seems to be a garmin problem, perhaps the files are corrupt.
On the Oregon700 I can import with Wi-Fi all bookmark lists. Only the bluetooth connection fails often. So it’s not a geocaching.org problem. Perhaps it’s a memory problem.
I don’t like waiting any more. I don’t hab the feeling Garmin will solve the problem.
On monday I will sent my GPSMAP 67 back to garmin.
-when no cache is loaded, garmin reboots (so load one with GC code or caches nearby)
-lists don’t will be load completly
-not completed list can’t be deleted
-some caches has a description from another cache
-caches with GC code or nearby can be loaded without fail
-lists loaded with USB are well
-bluetooth connection fails often, but wi-fi and smartphone hotspot work well
-folders from the GPSMAP 67 can I only see on the iMac only with a special app
-basecamp has connecting problems with garmin, sometimes it doesn’t recognize the sd card and imported geocache lists don‘t appear on thr garmin
Goodbye garmin….
