We have been testing with our 66st also, and have been unable to duplicate any abnormal power off battery drain thus far.

Last weekend was the first time the wife and I want for a couple of days hiking.
I had not charged my 66 since last reporting. After the first day of hiking all day the 66 showed 50% battery left.
So seeing we would be out for the next 3 days hiking all day I recharged the batteries.
I just checked as we are back home and the 66 shows still full charged.
So the user with the battery problems has not reported back it is hard to say what his problem really was.
Where can you see on the gpsmap 66 the percentage of battery? 50%
How to get this information?

One popular method is via the 'Battery Status' Connect IQ Widget, which we install on all our Garmin devices.

See GPSrChive > How To... > Connect IQ for more info.

requires 'background permission' - widget will use very little battery power in background

Hmmm

Edit
requires 'background permission' - widget will use very little battery power in background

Hmmm
I had it some years ago but deleted it because of false values
It shows 33 hours avaliability - this is false

But thank you for the information

I think you mean this one

You have to let it run through a few battery discharge cycles before the run time becomes more reasonable. The widget has to learn your usage patterns.
