iOS Garmin Explore sync failure

Unread post by steerage250 »

I couldn't get my GPSMAP 66st to sync with Garmin Explore on my iPhone (kep saying "sync failed").

Garmin Support provided a suggestion that worked, so I thought I would share it here:
  • connect the gpsr to a PC via USB
  • delete the Garmin/EDM and Garmin/GPX folders
I don't know what is normally stored in these folders, but in my case, I don't rely on storing anything in my gpsr and hence felt comfortable deleting them.

I would try only deleting the Garmin\EDM\ directory first (or renaming 'EDMold', 'EDMskip', etc.), as the Garmin\GPX\ directory will have your waypoints, tracks, routes, etc...

BTW, EDM is an acronym for 'Explore Data Management'.
