Make sure you are getting the timing just right, or the flash will not happen.
Unfortunately, it does sound like the device is bricked.
Send me a private message or email if you want to send us the device for testing.

Thank you again for your patience on this subject .
Can you elaborate on timing? Which timing?
Regarding sending the device to you, it’s very nice of you, but the shipping costs are higher than the value of the gps.
Have a great day

Re: Dakota 10 doesn't acquire satellites
Thanks again for clarify.
That is sure. The gps is detected and we start just after.
This what happens with a 5.80 GCD converted to RGN and then flashed:
With older RGN file provided in your site, it won't pass from loader loading.
I saw on a Spanish site that it is needed to be always pressing the power button, without batteries...but it didn't help.
The same site told that the procedure was unsuccessful in win7 x64 but on xp it worked...

Re: Dakota 10 doesn't acquire satellites
We managed to get the device to load as logic drive by flashing cure firmware as here:
We passed my dakota 20 files to it but it doesn't work, when we turn it on it appears the usb sign.
We tried flashing again with webupdater,it detects as dakota 10, it flashes, but it is the same.
There are two options more:
A dakota 10 backup - by any chance anyone has one that can share?
"flash the mbr image" , but I can't find aefdisk32v14.zip anywhere... and I profit to ask if mbr image is the same for dakota 20 and 10.
Thank you for your help

Re: Dakota 10 doesn't acquire satellites
Well, the gps came back to life...
To those who need:
We used the cure firmware
Then format according to this thread:
and then:
"Once that has happened, return to GarminCure, repeat the process but do NOT use Cure option, but the ORIGINAL option. After I did this I was able to reboot my device normally and I copied the files I received from Lolypop000 back onto the disk.
I have to add, all this started after I formated the device using MacOSX. So, a word from the older and wiser me, don't use OSX to format your Garmin. I do not think the tools available in Windows are available in OSX."
We flashed with 5.80 cdg and put a map inside and it booted fine.
But still no gps signal.

Any news? I have Dakota 10 and also Dakota 20 and both after upgrade to 5.80 software version, never acquire satellites (as wrote here). I returned until 4.1 version, but lower version with other version of GPS firmware (present 5.0), impossible to downgrade...

Please share screen captures of the Setup > About page showing Software and GPS versions, and the Satellite page showing no signals.
Please also note which versions work and which do not.

Re: Dakota 10 doesn't acquire satellites
I dont care about version, until everything working fine, unfortunately. But actual is 5.80 for Dakota and 5.00 for GPS module. The same result is for Dakota 20. Just positions of satellites are different, because time in devices isn't same.
