Oregon 700 vs Oregon 600 accuracy

Unread post by Grispoil61 »

Hello,

I am returning from a geocaching outing and I was really disappointed by my Oregon 600 GPS accuracy. The GPS takes me on the average 20 meters from the caches I was looking for. It's slow to update, have me run in circles and it takes a few minutes to 'zero' in and stabilize. I then tried my phone (a recent Samsung A52) and it took me directly to the same caches every single time. I was then looking at the Oregon 700 specifications and it apparently includes a 'Redesigned Antenna - Enables better reception and performance'.

My question is how better this redesigned antenna the Oregon 700 has really is?
Does anyone have any real life experience to share with this unit?
Or should I skip the Oregon series (getting old now) and go for a Montana instead?

Thanks.

The Oregon 7x0 GPS antenna us much better than the 600.

Currently, Oregon 700 are very reasonably priced and work reliably.

You didn't say which Montana, 6x0 or 7x0, but both are much larger than the Oregon.

Most of us expect a new Oregon to drop soon, as it is the oldest in the lineup.

Thank you for the quick feedback.

I too have noticed a price drop for the Oregon 7x0, I suspect the stores are trying to drop inventory in preparation to a new model (maybe).

I will wait a bit before I commit to a purchase.

Thanks
