TopoActive Maps v2026.11 released

Using Garmin Express on Windows seems to work, no errors during installation.

I think only the Europe maps have actually been updated, probably related to the boot loop issues that occurred mainly with Edge devices when 2026.10 was originally released. Some regions haven't been updated at all and are still on 2023 or 2024 versions.

Before starting the transfer of map files from the clone to the real unit and after checking for updates on the unit itself once again, 2026.11 is now showing as available. I'm updating the maps the "official" way.

Seems like on all our devices, using Garmin Express, we have to first install TopoActive 26.10, then reboot and reconnect before 2026.11 is offered - they do not just update to 2026.11 directly.

Not so for the Europe maps, 2026.10 isn't available for that region.

I had 2025.10 Europe maps, but as I mentioned installation of 2026.11 on macOS failed. After that I manually removed the TopoActive Europe map files (including DEM) from my H1, and only on Windows I was able to install 2026.11.

The maps work fine, but my H1 shows an update is available in Map Manager (this has been a long standing issue on GPSMAP 67 and now H1), and Express on Windows shows only basemap is installed (I have no other regions than Europe on my device).

It's time Garmin splits up TopoActive in smaller regions to facilitate downloading from the device itself. Downloading >10GB for Europe from the device itself just makes no sense.

When it comes to downloading the TopoActive maps on the devices themselves, this is an absolute must for me because I have so many devices, and Garmin Express can only handle one at a time. Much more efficient to let them all update over Wi-Fi simultaneously.

It looks like the "new" version 2026.11 is only offered for Edge cycling computers.
For my GPSMAP 66sr, "older" map version 2026.10 is still offered (via Garmin Express) which works flawlessly by the way. So nothing changed.

I think that this "updated" version is related to bootloop issue in Edge cycling devices which does not occur in hiking devices.

My GPSMAP H1i Plus was loaded with TopoActive North America v2026.11:

And my H1 was updated with TopoActive Europe 2026.11. There are a couple of other regions that are at 2026.11 as well like South America.

TopoActive North America, TopoActive Europe, TopoActive South America - in all cases Garmin Express offers me 2026.10.

I am still curious why they release one map version just after another. Normal release cycle for TopoActive maps is every 6-12 months.
And why for only selected devices, instead of all of them ?
