Which cradle do you use with the Montana?

The bike mount.

Had it for years. Brilliant bit of kit and can be mounted in a variety of ways and orientations and on different bikes too.

Mick F,
If you view Montana > Hardware > Behind the Scenes > Disassembly > Frame 22, you can see the atmospheric pressure membrane seal at the top left of the image. Perhaps some additional foam strategically secured here might provide the result you seek?

Update for me. I hiked a 5 mile 1600 ft gain up a rugged type mountain. I installed the Montana in an outside pouch on the shoulder/chest strap. It recorded fantastic. Clean profile without spikes as well. I did have it set to "When tracking" so it all matched. If your reading this whole thead I started you'll know what I mean. Thank you GPSrChive.

I'll be hiking alot these next few weeks while on vacation and will see the long term results and post them. Part of the issue was I had it in my shirt pocket. Again I had the 66st in my pocket and it did the same issue but when worn outside and in a pouch out front seems fine.

Excellent info! Thank you.
I don't think it's worth the effort to strip Monty down to see if extra foam in there would work though.

Re: Ascent figures change when loaded to BaseCamp
Well to confirm again having the settings GPSrChive gave me worked. I have done multible hikes in Glacier Nat Park of `11 miles up near 1800 ft gains etc. All tracks I downloaded and screen shots taken of my trip computer page with total ascent, miles etc jive perfectly and almost exact readings as my wifes 66ST for once. I did wear it in a light weight pouch out on the front of my chest on the shoulder/chest strap and not in my pocket like before so I can't confirm it would work that way as well Maybe I'll try it soon and report back. Being in the front chest pocket might effect it alot. I would not doubt that but we'll see.
