What is the point of using TracBack (which doesn't work well) when you can use reverse tracing?

Spoiler
Quel est l'interêt d'utiliser TracBack (qui ne fonctionne pas bien) alors que l'on peut utiliser la trace inverse??

The forum language is English.

On what basis do you say it doesn't work?

If i recall correctly.
Track back is using the current active track to go back and does not require the track to be saved before navigating back.

That's exactly how it works. You must have activity recording turned on.

I know a case where a traveler left his equipment and went to check the passage.
After a while, low clouds appeared and he lost his orientation. When he returned, he couldn't find his equipment, but TrackBack saved him.
This seems to be the answer to the question in this topic.

To use reverse tracking, you must save the current activity and reverse the created track. Then start navigating this track. Seems more troublesome.

Two similar options perform the function of returning to the starting point,
you can choose according to your expectations,
if you want to record all activity and obtain information about the hike, choose TracBack,
if you do not care about activity statistics for the entire hike,
you can save the track and start navigation according to the reverse Track .

I often use "reverse navigation" but I use the direct route for this purpose.

When determining a direct route, I mark the start position as the destination point,
I obtain a straight line connecting "My position" with the start point,
I choose the route intuitively based on the map, the direct route line is only an indication.

The use of the appropriate solution depends on the situation, returning according to Track is not always the optimal solution, it happens that we go off the trail while hiking, returning exactly according to TrackBack or a saved track is not always advisable.

It's clear. TrackBack is only used to return to your own GPS track, e.g. if you lose your car keys :).
But before you lose your car, press "MARK" next to it :).

This option is useful if you do not record a trace, select "Mark" and you can even turn off the device,
when we return we use the marked position.

When we record a track (the beginning of the track will mark the location of the car),
so we do not have to use the "Mark" option.
