shutting down before finishing the boot sequence

I just wanted to share my recent experience with Garmin.
My Montana 700 one day kept shutting down before finishing the boot sequence.
After trying to troubleshoot it using the knowledge from this site, I contacted Garmin Support. I described my symptoms and attempts to recover. I supplied them with a detailed log file of all the updates applied to the unit and any tweaks I did which I recorded in case I had to do a reset.
A couple of days later they gave me shipping instructions to return my unit to them and they would send me a recertified unit covered under the device's warranty.
In all the process took about a month (would have been less if I had decided to pony up for expedited shipping).
I was admittedly expecting a worse outcome but I am impressed and satisfied with Garmin's response.
