Re: GPSMAP 66sr Firmware 4.90
It's a shame that I didn't think of recording in RINEX when the satellites were flashing version 3.80, now it's too late .....

Re: GPSMAP 66sr Firmware 4.90
It is true that Garmin does not always publish all changes made to new firmware versions when released.
The device firmware is responsible for user interface operation. The GPS radio firmware is responsible for satellite signal interpretation.
Any and all changes in how the GPSMAP 66sr uses and/or presents satellite information when comparing firmware version 4.90 to 3.80 is purely due to changes made in the user interface software, as the GPS radio firmware was not changed:
Of course, you can make any assumptions you wish!
And you could revert to 3.80 and test RINEX data then update again to 4.90 if you are so inclined.

Re: GPSMAP 66sr Firmware 4.90
Hello,
Of course, we can make all possible hypotheses, but I notice that with version 4.90, as soon as I switch on the 66sr at home, in the house, the Multi-band satellites are immediately taken into account and are fixed, but from there to say that one can start a hike immediately after its ignition, I do not know. Better to wait a few minutes.
I can't wait to try it but it rains, it rains even in the south of France 25Km from the Mediterranean.

In fact I found these files on my HD well hidden, which I saved about a month after its purchase, but I can not say what the firmware version was, I think 3.30 because I put 3.80 later.

Re: GPSMAP 66sr Firmware 4.90
I have seen other RINEX plots (maybe in this forum) proving that Galileo is lost and not acquired again for the powercycle once out of sight. Same which I observed on the 65s. (not tested again with latest firmware)
This can not be only an UI bug.

- The information in the posts provided prove only that while some users observed satellite signals dropping out, others did not.
- It is also an assumption that the lost signals would only return after power cycling the device.
- It is a fact that the most recent updates for these Multi-Band devices did not change the GPS radio firmware.

According to the RTKlib graph on geocaching.com, the Glonass and Galileo satellites are lost after 10 hours of uninterrupted operation of the 65s, is this due to a saving of energy proper to the 65s after a very long operating time.
Did the person who performed this test stop the 65s and then restart it to see if the Glonass and galileo satellites have returned to normal?

Re: GPSMAP 66sr Firmware 4.90
I just noticed that Garmin has changed the interface so much at the satellite level that even if some are not acquired, they no longer flash. It's totally abnormal. However, an unacknowledged satellite must flash.
