Altimeter cannot be calibrated when activity is not started

Unread post by felix750 »

Step to reproduce:

1. Activities Setup: Auto Pause ->Off, Auto Start ->Off
2. Altimeter Setup: Altimeter ->On, Autocalibration ->Once, Barometer Mode ->Variable Elevation, Pressure Trending ->Save When Power On, Plot Type ->Elevation/Distance.
3. Acquire GPS signal until locked on.
4. Clear the current activity such that the current activity is not started.
5. Calibrate the altimeter using correct barometer pressure (or any value), the display indicated that calibration completed successfully, however the data field reading of barometer pressure remain unchanged.

The altimeter can only be calibrated when an activity is started or GPS signal is lost (indoor)

I tested this before responding, and I found that in fact the calibration does work, however the Barometer data field does not display the 'calibrated value' unless you are actively recording a tracklog.

If you repeat steps 1-5, then start a recording, you will see the Barometer Data Field immediately switches to the calibrated value.

Yes, but if you delete the existing activity again, the barometer reading will jump back to the initial uncalibrated value instead of using the already calibrated value, this is quit annoying.
