Track names are shown wrongly in archive

Unread post by ConiKost »

This seems to be a new bug, which was introduced with firmware 9.20.
I have the name scheme, that all my tracks are called "YYYY.MM.DD name".

All tracks, which are marked as favorites, are correctly shown.
If you switch to the track archive, the names are now wrongly shown as "YYYY:MM:DD name".
Basically, the dot (.) is wrongly replaced by a colon (:).

Hmmm, we are also not seeing this... All our saved track names seem to be the same as before the update...

Are the names changed when viewed in their folders while connected to a computer?

No, if I open a GPX on my computer, it has the correct name inside in its tag.

Sounds like a language text file issue. Can you retest on the device after changing the language, and possibly rebooting?

Does not help. Changed from 'german' to 'english', powered off and on. Still wrongly shown.
Did you tested by yourself and copied and Track named 'YYYY.MM.DD Text' into the archive folder and it was shown correctly?

Btw, with name, I mean, that <name> element inside of the GPX file, not the file name itself.

<trk>
<name>2021.03.03 Text</name>

Just tried with a new created complete fresh track and transfered to Montana. In BaseCamp, it was named "2021.08.01 Testtrack". As a favorite, it shown correctly, after I moved it on Montana to archive, the dot replaced again by an colon in shown name and shown as "2021:08:01 Testtrack". (The track is physically in terms of file not changed on file system!)

My Montana 750i v920 names tracks as "YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS'.

When I Archive them, they retain the same format.

When I Favorite them, they continue to keep that same format.

When saving the current track, I am unable to change the "-" symbols in the name to "."

Also, ",", ":", """, "*", and "/" are also prohibited.

Please clarify that your Montana 7x0 is saving tracks using the "." as a seperator?

So you are using a different name, as I do ;-) Makes sense, as you don't have any dot. Try create a track with "YYYY.MM.DD Text" in BaseCamp and transfer by yourself.

You mean saving directly on the Montana? Yes, just tried it and I also not allowed.

But I am not saving tracks in Montana. All tracks are from BaseCamp and BaseCamp allows them to have a dot. I am using this for years now. My 276Cx does this fine. Montana 750i was doing this up to firmware 8.50 fine, this issue started with firmware 9.20.

So the question is, if this is now an feature or still a bug?

Ahh, that is the part I was not understanding. The tracks have to be exported from BaseCamp, which does allow using the "." in the name.

BaseCamp still crashes every single time I connect my Montana 7x0, so I can not test this.

Can you please provide some screen captures from the Montana 7x0 that show a track with "." in Favorite list, then Archive it and get a screen capture showing the same track now with ":" in place of the "."?
